FCP has grown out of the campaign that has been running since late 2013 to prevent Tesco opening an Express store in the old Barclays Bank building at the corner of Queens Road and Clarendon Park Road.
While we know that not everyone was against having a supermarket on this site, the majority of local residents seemed to be against it, and certainly the City Council and the Planning Inspector who heard Tesco’s appeal were convinced that this would be a dangerous site to open any supermarket.
As a community, we pulled together during this campaign, forming lots of new relationships and acquiring plenty of new skills – skills that FCP can ensure are retained in the community to help campaign on other issues as and when they arise.
